What are the Eligibility Criteria for Nursing Courses in Bangalore?

 


Different nursing college in Bangalore follows different schemes of education and the course fees also differ from one to another.

Again, most of these college courses enjoy acceptance from Indian Nursing Council. Therefore, some of them admit students based on the ranking an applicant got in the common test for admission into nursing courses. Other colleges follow the INC admission guidelines sans eligibility test.  Colleges including the Vijayanagar College of Nursing fall within this criterion. The candidates must have the required fitness. The council does not allow admission more than once a year.

The recourse of eligibility in a reputed nursing college in Bangalore is as follows:

ANM

The applicant must complete 17 years on or before 31st December of the year in which he or she seeks admission. The maximum age for admission shall be 35 years.

The minimum educational requirements shall be 10 + 2 from a recognized board in any discipline. Students having Arts and Commerce qualifications should pass the course to fulfill the aspiration of becoming a learned nurse. However, having English as one of the prime subjects is compulsory.    

The applicants must have the required medical fitness.  The council permits admission once a year.

GNM

Students fulfilling the different criteria can take admission to the General Nursing and Midwifery courses:

  • He or she must have passed 10+2 with English as a prime subject. The applicant must have obtained a minimum of 40% at the qualifying examination and English separately from any recognized board.

  • Applicant should preferably be from the science stream. Else, they should successfully complete the ANM courses first.

  • A 10+2 qualifier with English having 40% of marks in vocational ANM course from the school recognized by the Indian Nursing council.

  • 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in Vocational Stream-Health care Science from a recognized CBSE board or Centre.

  • A registered ANM pass-out.

B.Sc. Nursing

  • The admission criteria are similar to GNM and ANM courses. However, the maximum age for admission into B.Sc. Nursing is much less. Besides, there are marks criteria too. The applicant will mandatorily be from the science stream having Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as prime subjects from a Nationally Recognized Board in India. The qualifying mark for applying to the course is 45%.

  • Students from the National School of Open school who have secured 45% marks in the 10+2 examination with science are also eligible to apply for B.Sc. Nursing course .

  • Students require to have the required medical fitness.

  • ICN allows admission once a year.

  • English would be prime in all qualifying courses.


Post-Basic B.Sc. (Nursing)

The applicant needs to pass the Higher Secondary or Senior Secondary or 10+2 or any equivalent examination recognized by a registered University. 

The course advances the career of GNM nurses. Therefore, the applicant must have obtained a certificate in General Nursing and Midwifery and registered as R.N.R.M. with the State Nurses Registration Council. A male nurse, trained before the implementation of the new integrated course besides being registered as a nurse with the State Nurses Registration Council, will have to produce shreds of evidence of training approved by the Indian Nursing Council for a similar duration in lieu of GNM. The areas of specialization include:

  • O.T. Techniques

  • Ophthalmic Nursing

  • Leprosy Nursing

  • TB Nursing

  • Psychiatric Nursing

  • Neurological and Neurosurgical nursing

  • Community Health Nursing

  • Cancer Nursing

  • Orthopedic Nursing

M.Sc. Nursing

Registered nurses usually take the course. Job experience is necessary for applying for Masters in Nursing courses.

However, the applicant must have completed the B.Sc. Nursing or B.Sc. Honors Nursing or Post-Basic Nursing for applying to the courses. He or she must secure at least 55% marks as aggregate.

Both B.Sc. Nursing and Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing qualifiers have at least one-year of experience to apply for admission into the Post-graduate nursing courses.
